Christie Bassil
Christie Bassil: From Beirut and Milan to Lisbon
Early in her career, Christie Bassil co-founded and led the visual design department of an avant-garde design and architecture studio based between Beirut and Milan. After moving to Europe in 2008, she expanded her creative background by studying contemporary jewellery design at the Ar.Co art school in Lisbon, where she currently lives and works. Her multidisciplinary experience has allowed her to explore different scales of design, from objects and visual projects to architecture, including the design and construction of two beach cabins in Costa da Caparica.
Christie Bassil and Domeniconi
As a product designer and clock designer, Christie Bassil has collaborated with Domeniconi, bringing her contemporary design language to the world of decorative timepieces. Among the best-known results of the Christie Bassil Domeniconi collaboration is the Half Time cuckoo clock, a modern interpretation of the traditional cuckoo clock that reflects her ability to rethink familiar objects through a contemporary perspective. Christie Bassil designer clocks offer an original approach to functional home accessories, connecting everyday use with expressive design.
Christie Bassil Clocks and Contemporary Design
Christie Bassil clocks explore the clock as both a functional object and a decorative presence within the interior. Her work with Domeniconi is particularly relevant to those looking for designer wall clocks and modern cuckoo clocks with a distinctive contemporary identity. The Christie Bassil Half Time cuckoo clock exemplifies this approach, combining the familiar language of traditional clocks with a more playful and modern design vision.
A Multidisciplinary Creative Practice
Beyond product and clock design, Christie Bassil has developed projects across art direction, visual culture and socially engaged communication. Since 2018, she has served as Art Director of Bayneh & Baynek, a pan-Arab women's empowerment platform, and curated the #IForgiveMyself campaign addressing shame culture in the Middle East. Her work has appeared in international publications and has been exhibited in Beirut, Milan, Paris and Lisbon, reflecting a creative career that connects design, communication and cultural engagement.
